Distributor R & I (2.5L): Removal

Unfasten distributor cap retaining screws. Remove distributor cap, and place out of the way, with coil and spark plug wires connected. Disconnect distributor primary wiring connector. Scribe a mark on distributor housing in-line with tip of rotor.
Scribe a mark on distributor housing near clamp and continue scribe mark onto engine block in line with distributor housing mark. Note position of rotor and distributor housing in relation to surrounding engine components.
Remove distributor hold-down bolt and clamp. Lifting distributor straight up, carefully remove distributor from engine. See Fig 1 .
