Neutral Safety Switch

  1. Disconnect harness connector from neutral safety switch located on manual valve shaft. See Figure . Using an ohmmeter on the switch side of harness connector, check for continuity between harness connector terminals while shifting through all positions. See Figure .
  2. Continuity should exist between terminals "B" and "C" when in Park and Neutral position only. Continuity should exist between terminals "A" and "E" when in Reverse position only.
  3. Continuity should exist between terminals "A" and "G" when in 3rd gear. Continuity should exist between "A" and "H" when in first or second gear.
  4. If any of the continuity readings are incorrect, neutral safety switch needs replacing or adjusting. See NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
