Overdrive Support Assembly: Disassembly
Check brake piston operation. See Fig 1 . Apply compressed air through overdrive support feed hole. Piston should not bind or stick. Remove thrust bearing and race. Remove clutch drum thrust washer and race. Using Tool (B.Vi FM-26) compress piston return springs and remove snap ring. Mount overdrive support in direct clutch and remove brake piston with compressed air. Remove brake piston "O" rings and support seal rings. Measure free length of piston return springs. Length should be .733" (18.61 mm). Inspect overdrive support and brake piston for wear and damage.
