First-Reverse Brake Piston & Transmission Case: Disassembly
- Remove bearing and race assembly from transmission case. See Fig 1
. Check for smooth operation of No. 1 or No. 2 first-reverse piston with compressed air. Compress piston return springs and remove snap ring. Remove No. 2 first-reverse brake piston with compressed air. See Fig 2
.
- Using Tool (B.Vi FM-31) remove reaction sleeve. Remove No. 1 first-reverse brake piston with Tool (B.Vi FM-32). Measure free length of piston return springs with springs mounted in retainer. Length should be .724" (18.39 mm). Clean transmission case with solvent and dry with compressed air. Ensure oil feed passages are clear of solvent. Inspect the case for wear or damage.
