Manifold Absolute Pressure (Map) Sensor

MAP sensor monitors absolute pressure in the intake manifold and provides input voltage to ECU. Change in engine load varies manifold pressure, and causes MAP sensors resistance to vary. Change in sensor resistance causes change in input voltage to ECU. The changing voltage provides ECU with information on ambient barometric pressure while engine is running. ECU uses this information to adjust air/fuel mixture.
