Printed Circuit Check

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect gauges wiring harness connector from rear of gauge package, including voltmeter sender unit. Using DVOM, measure resistance in printed circuit from gauge package terminal No. 2 (fuel and coolant temperature gauge) or from terminal No. 5 (voltmeter and oil pressure gauge) to gauge battery terminal of suspected defective gauge. See Figure . DVOM should read zero ohms. If it does not read zero, repair/replace printed circuit.
  2. Using DVOM, measure resistance from gauge package terminal No. 3 to ground terminal of suspected defective gauge. DVOM reading should be zero ohms. If any resistance is present, repair/replace printed circuit. If zero ohms are present in printed circuit of gauge being tested, then gauge is defective and needs replacement.
NOTE: For individual gauge testing, see GAUGE TESTING  .
