Automatic Transmission

  1. Disconnect ISA motor wire connector. Connect ISA Exerciser Tool (Ele.AB99) to ISA motor. Retract ISA plunger until throttle lever contacts idle speed screw and plunger does not contact throttle lever.
  2. Turn ignition switch to the "ON" position. Locate TPS 4-pin connector. See Fig 1 . Terminals are marked "A", "B", "C" and "D" on connector.
  3. Check TPS input voltage. Locate terminals "A" and "D" on TPS 4-pin connector. Using a digital voltmeter, connect negative voltmeter lead to rear of terminal "D". Connect positive lead to rear of terminal "A" (with connector installed). Note input voltage across terminals "A" and "D".
  4. Check TPS output voltage. Disconnect voltmeter positive lead from terminal "A" and connect it to back of terminal "B" (with connector installed). Note sensor output voltage across terminals "B" and "D".
  5. Divide output voltage reading by input voltage reading. Desired voltage reading should be .925-.935 volts. If necessary, adjust TPS sensor until correct voltage reading is obtained.
  6. To adjust input and output voltages, if a large adjustment is needed, loosen sensor top mounting screw and pivot sensor. If a fine adjustment is needed, loosen bottom of sensor mounting screw and pivot sensor.
