Cruise Control System Test
- NO LAMPS WILL LIGHT
Ignition in OFF. Test module connector terminal 1 to chassis ground. If reading is 0 ohms, then no malfunction is present. If any other reading is obtain then repair open to ground. - LAMP NO. 1 WILL NOT LIGHT
Remove and Inspect Fuse, Ignition in RUN, Cruise Switch in ON, Set Switch DEPRESSED.Test HAZ/STOP fuse. Replace if blown.
Test In-line fuse. Replace if blown.
Test In-line fuse connector terminal A. If no voltage is present, repair open from Brake Switch.
Test Backprobe cruise switch connector terminal A. If voltage is not present, repair open from In-line fuse.
Test Backprobe cruise switch connector terminal D, If voltage is not present, replace cruise switch.
Test Backprobe cruise switch connector terminal 14. If voltage is not present, repair open from cruise switch.
- LAMP NO.2 WILL NOT LIGHT
Ignition in ON, Cruise Switch in ON Test cruise connector terminal B. If no voltage is present, replace cruise circuit. Test module connector terminal 5. If no voltage is present, repair circuit from cruise switch. Test Across Module connector terminal 2 & 3. Tester reading should be from 15 to 50 ohms. Test Across Speed Sensor terminals A & B. If tester reading is between 15-50 ohms, repair open to module. Test Speed Sensor terminals A and B with rear wheel spinning at 30 MPH, 0.9 Volts AC should increase 0.1 Volt AC for each 10 mph. If does not occur, replace Speed Sensor. - LAMP NO.3 WILL NOT LIGHT
Ignition in RUN Test module connector terminal 7. If there is no battery voltage, replace cruise switch. Test jumper wire between module connector terminal 7 and 13. If stop light does not light, repair open in brake/clutch switch circuit. - LAMP NO.4 WILL NOT LIGHT
Ignition in RUN Test gauges fuse (60/70) ACCY fuse (Model 81). Replace if blown. Test module connector terminal 2 and 11 while moving throttle from idle to wide open. Tester reading should be between 240-4K ohms. If not, replace control servo. Test cruise control servo connector terminal G and F while moving throttle from idle to wide open. Should tester read 280-430 ohms at idle and 4K ohms at wide open; and previous test is OK, repair open to Control Module, other wise, replace control servo. - LAMPS 5 AND 6 WILL NOT LIGHT
Ignition in RUN, Cruise Switch in R/A. Test cruise switch connector terminal C. If battery voltage is not present, replace cruise switch. Test module connector terminal 10. If battery voltage is not present, repair open from cruise switch. Test across module connector terminals 6 and 12. Tester should read 30-50 ohms. If not, refer to SERVO CHECK in Figure . Test across module connector terminals 4 and 12. Tester should read 30-50 ohms. If not, refer to SERVO CHECK in Figure . Test module connector terminal 6 to clean chassis ground. There should be an infinite resistance. If not, replace Control Servo. Test module connector terminal 4 to clean chassis ground. There should be an infinite resistance. If not, replace Control Servo. Test module connector terminal 12 to clean chassis ground. There should be an infinite resistance. If not, replace Control Servo. - HOSE ROUTING AND SERVO CABLE
Inspect the following for proper connection:- Servo cable for leaks and hook-ups
- Engine vacuum can and hose connections (small hose)
Repair as necessary.
- BRAKE VENT VALVE HOSE AND SERVO
Pinch brake vent hose (large hose) at servo and perform Servo Check test E (Figure ). Replace control servo if does not operate. Also inspect vent hose for kinks, cuts or other damage, as well as brake vent valve adjustment.
