Towing (Recreational)

  1. Unlock steering wheel. Shift automatic transmission into Park or manual transmission into 1st gear. Place transfer case into Neutral. Place locking hubs in the "LOCK" position to lubricate axle.
  2. On Grand Wagoneer or Truck with Select-Trac, with vehicle moving slowly (2-3 MPH) and using a firm, positive movement, shift transfer case into Neutral.
  3. When the selector lever is in the Neutral position, both axles are disconnected from the drive train. This will permit the vehicle to be towed without removing the drive shafts.
