Testing (On-Vehicle)
- With ignition switch in "RUN" position, charge indicator light should illuminate. After engine is running, indicator light should go out.
- If charge indicator light does not operate with ignition switch in "RUN" position, check gauge fuse by verifying oil pressure indicator is on.
- Check light ground by jumping terminal "L" (Tan/Green) wire of alternator to ground. If light now illuminates, ensure terminal "L" and alternator ground are clean and tight. If so, replace regulator. If bulb is good, check charge indicator circuit wiring for an open.
- If charge indicator light stays on when engine is running, check condition of drive belt. Check connections at alternator. Check for battery voltage at alternator terminal "B".
- Ensure alternator ground is clean and tight. Perform charging system test. If alternator output is good, replace regulator.
