Towing Precautions
- Jeep vehicles may be towed with front or rear wheels off the ground, towing speeds should be limited to 30 MPH for a distance not to exceed 15 miles.
- If CJ7, Grand Wagoneer, Scrambler or Truck with the model 208 or 300 transfer case is to be towed over 200 miles; stop towing vehicle, place transfer case in Neutral, and start engine. Place automatic transmission in drive and run engine for 1-2 minutes to lubricate transfer case.
- On Cherokee and Wagoneer equipped with the model 207 transfer case and automatic (manual) transmission, shift transmission into Park (Neutral) and transfer case into Neutral.
- On Cherokee and Wagoneer equipped with the model 229 transfer case and automatic transmission, turn ignition switch to the "OFF" position to unlock the steering wheel. Shift transmission into Park and transfer case into Neutral.
