Primary Procedure

  1. Set parking brake and place transmission in Neutral. Start engine and run at idle to obtain normal operating temperature. Turn ignition off and connect timing light using inductive pick-up or adapter. Do not puncture spark plug wire.
  2. Connect tachometer. Disconnect and plug vacuum hose at distributor. Disconnect vacuum switch assembly wire connector. Start engine and increase engine speed to 1600 RPM. Adjust timing. Set timing by loosening distributor clamp bolt and turning distributor. Recheck timing after clamp bolt is tightened.
