Exhaust Emission Systems: Description: EGR

Exhaust gas recirculation system uses a vacuum operated EGR valve to introduce metered amounts of exhaust gas into engine's combustion chambers. This introduction of inert exhaust gas lowers peak combustion temperatures and thus lowers NOx formations.
