iPad™ Charging

The RECM controls the charging of the iPad™ internal battery. The RECM supplies a regulated 5V power supply to each iPad™. The iPad™ dock connector limits the charging current to 1A using a resistive ladder. The 5V supply is only applied when the RECM has received the RSE remote control charging signal from the CJB. The 5V supply is removed when the RECM no longer receives the RSE remote control charging signal or the battery voltage falls to below 11V for more than 3 seconds. The charging voltage will remain off until the RSE remote control charging signal is received, the RECM is reset or the battery voltage exceeds 11.5V. The charging voltage will also be removed if the battery voltage exceeds 18V for 1 second or more. When the battery voltage is at 15.5V or below or the RECM is reset, the charging voltage is restored.
