CONCERN

A number of navigation modules returned to the supplier have been dismantled by dealers. This invalidates the warranty and could potentially destroy evidence of failure.

CAUSE

Some dealers are attempting to recover the map disc trapped inside the unit.

ACTION

Under no circumstances should a Navigation module be dismantled.

If a Navigation module fails in service and the map disc cannot be recovered due to mechanical failure:

the failed unit should be returned complete with the map disc intact if unable to eject. A replacement Navigation module should be ordered through the normal Unipart and FRED processes.

Any Navigation modules later found to have been dismantled may lead to a warranty claim being rejected.
