Liftgate Alignment - General Procedures
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2009 Jaguar XKR, 2009 Jaguar XK8, 2008 Jaguar XKR, 2008 Jaguar XK8, and 2007 Jaguar XKR. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Check the gap and profiles of the liftgate are correct. Refer to Body and Frame article.
- Remove the load space floor panel.
- Remove the scuff plate trim panel.
- Remove the 4 Torx bolts.
- Remove the liftgate hinge cover.
- Remove the 8 clips.
- Loosen the liftgate striker.
- Loosen the 2 Torx bolts.
- Loosen the liftgate to hinge Torx bolts.
- With the liftgate closed, check the alignment of the liftgate to the roof panel. Profile of the liftgate to roof panel should be 2 mm below flush.
- Tighten the liftgate to hinge Torx bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb.ft).
- Loosen the liftgate hinge to body nuts.
- With the liftgate closed, check the alignment of the liftgate to the roof panel and body side panel. The liftgate should be central in its aperture.
- Tighten the liftgate hinge to body nuts to 25 Nm (18 lb.ft).
- Secure the liftgate striker.
- Tighten the Torx bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb.ft).
- Install the scuff plate trim panel.
- Install the 4 Torx screws
- With the liftgate closed, check the profile of the liftgate to the body side panel. Adjust as required.
- Install the liftgate hinge cover.
- Secure with the clips.
- Install the load space floor panel.
