Oil Pan: Installation

  1. Fit the oil pan gasket to the oil pan body assembly.
    • Insert the seal into the locating positions in the groove, working around from a corner.
    • Press in the remainder of the seal, following the same procedure.

  2. Fit the oil pan to the oil pan body.
    • Position and align the oil pan. (1)
    • Fit, but do not tighten, all eighteen bolts which secure the oil pan. (2)

  3. Tighten the oil pan bolts to the correct torque Fig 3, in the sequence indicated.
    • A new oil pan is supplied with the drain plug fitted. Check that the plug is tightened to the correct torque figure of 30 - 40 Nm.

  4. NOTE: When the engine is started from cold and run for a short period only, before being switched off, a quantity of oil will be 'hung up' within the engine because it is not up to operating temperature.
  5. Lower the ramp. Refill the engine with the correct specification engine oil.
  6. Remove the paint protection sheets and close the engine compartment.
