Service Intervals

On S-Type models, 5R55N transmission is filled-for-life and does not require fluid changes, except under severe service conditions. Routine fluid level checking is not required and a dipstick is not provided. A fluid level/filler plug is used to check fluid level and make corrections. Under severe service conditions, change fluid every 30,000 miles (48,000 km).

On XJ and XK models, ZF 5HP24 transmission is filled-for-life. Transmission is filled-for-life and does not require fluid changes, except under extreme driving conditions. Routine fluid level checking is not required and a dipstick is not provided. A fluid level/filler plug is used to check fluid level and make corrections.

On XJ and XK models equipped with a supercharged W5A580 transmission is filled for life and does not require fluid change or performing routine level checking. A sealed dipstick tube is installed for service requirements only. A Dipstick (307-379) is available as a special service tool and not installed as standard equipment.
