Checking Fluid Level: W5A580

NOTE: Ensure replacement dipstick tube plug locking pin is available before removing plug.
  1. Connect Jaguar PDU or scan tool and monitor transmission fluid temperature. Using a screwdriver, pry up and remove dipstick tube plug locking pin plate. Push remaining locking pin downward, into plug and remove dipstick tube plug. Push locking pin through tube plug and discard pin.
  2. NOTE: Temperature is only displayed with gear selector in "D" or "P" position.
  3. Check transmission fluid level using manufacturer supplied Dipstick (307-379). Measure transmission fluid temperature to select appropriate dipstick measuring point. See Fig 1.
  4. Insert dipstick until it bottoms on transmission fluid pan. Remove dipstick and check fluid level. Using a lint free cloth, wipe dipstick and recheck level. Correct fluid level as necessary. Excess fluid must be removed. Turn engine off and remove dipstick. Install tube plug. Install and fully seat a NEW locking pin. Check for leaks and remove spilled fluid.
