Checking Fluid Level: 5R55N
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Depress brake pedal. Operate "J" gate shifter through all gear ranges, then select Park. Using Jaguar Portable Diagnostic Unit (PDU) or compatible scan tool, check transmission fluid temperature. Ensure temperature is 79-118°F (26-48°C).
- Raise and support vehicle. Place a suitable container under vehicle. Remove filler side plug (located at 3 o'clock position on transmission extension housing). Remove center (transmission fluid level) drain plug located next to transmission oil pan drain plug.
- If a drop of oil forms every few seconds at center drain plug, transmission fluid level is correct. If fluid level is low, go to next step. If fluid level is high, go to step 5. If fluid level is correct, go to step 6.
- If fluid level is low, add transmission fluid through filler side plug. Add fluid a little at a time until correct level is attained. Go to step 6.
- If fluid level is high, allow fluid to drain until a drop of oil forms at center drain plug every few seconds. Go to next step.
- Install transmission filler side plug and center drain plug. Tighten plugs to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Wipe residual oil from around sump pan and extension housing. Lower vehicle.
