Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor

On all 1998 models and 1999 XJR, the CMP sensor is located on the left bank cylinder head, at the rear of the camshaft. On all other models, the CMP sensors are located at the rear of each cylinder head. The CMP sensor provides camshaft position input to the ECM or PCM. This input is used for cylinder identification, ignition/fuel synchronization and VVT system feedback (when equipped).
