Description & Operation: Generator

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2003 Jaguar XJR, 2003 Jaguar XJ8, 2003 Jaguar XJ, 2002 Jaguar XJR, and 2002 Jaguar XJ8. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The generator is a Nippondenso type L3B-HE that is driven by a single, multi-ribbed belt which also drives all other front-end accessories, except for the supercharger (if fitted). The Generator output is 120 amps when generator rotation speed is approximately 5000 RPM at 77°F (25°C).

The generator is fitted at the right front side of the engine, to a separate mounting bracket, which in turn is bolted to the cylinder block. There are 2 bolts that secure the generator to the mounting bracket. One bolt can be reached from above and the other bolts can be reached from below the vehicle.
