Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor: Removal

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. CMP sensor is located at right front of engine where distributor used to be located. See Figure . Rotate engine until No. 1 piston is at Top Dead Center (TDC).
  2. Verify that the imprinted circle in the metal wheel is centered in the CMP sensor window. See Figure . Mark CMP sensor housing-to-cylinder block location for installation reference. Disconnect CMP sensor connector. Remove CMP sensor retaining bolt. Remove CMP sensor.
