Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove intercooler intake elbow. Raise and support vehicle. Remove rear air intake duct to throttle body hose. Remove oil filter. Remove EGR supply pipe-to-manifold bolts. Remove EGR supply pipe gasket. Reposition EGR sensor harness plug from mounting bracket.
  2. Release outer throttle cable support from support bracket. Disconnect inner throttle cable from throttle linkage. Remove speed control bracket-to-throttle lever clevis pin and circlip. Remove throttle return spring. Disconnect speed control vacuum hose. Remove radiator cap to release cooling system pressure. Remove support bracket assembly.
  3. Disconnect idle speed actuator wiring connector. Disconnect throttle potentiometer wiring connector. Remove throttle body coolant hoses. Remove throttle body and gasket. Remove idle speed control valve retaining bolts. Remove idle speed control valve and gasket. To install, reverse removal procedure.


  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove intake elbow-to-throttle housing hose. Disconnect idle speed control valve connector. Disconnect throttle potentiometer connector. Remove clevis pin circlip. Reposition linkage arm from quadrant. Disconnect kickdown cable from quadrant. Open throttle completely and disconnect inner cable from quadrant.
  2. Carefully release throttle against stop. Disconnect coolant hoses from throttle body. Remove throttle body from manifold. Remove idle speed control valve and gasket from throttle body. Carefully remove inner piece from throttle body cavity. To install, reverse removal procedure. Check base idle. See ADJUSTMENTS article.
