Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor

On 4.0L, IAT sensor is located in inlet air elbow, between throttle body and mass airflow sensor. On 6.0L, IAT sensor is located in left air inlet elbow. On all models, sensor is a Negative Thermal Coefficient (NTC) thermistor with a shrouded bead for fast response to changing air temperatures. Sensor resistance increases as air temperature increases. IAT sensor provides an air temperature signal to PCM.
