Removal & Installation (4.0L)
- Disconnect ignition coil high tension lead at distributor. Remove distributor cap. Raise front of vehicle and support on jackstands. Rotate crankshaft until No. 1 piston is at TDC of compression stroke. Remove hold-down bolt and distributor.
- Place Distributor Rotor Setter (JD189) over distributor rotor, ensuring setter is fully seated in the cap locating lug. See Fig 1
. Install distributor. Tighten hold-down bolt. Refer to the TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
table. Install distributor cap and high tension (spark plug) leads.
