  2. Open driver's door, and remove "A" pillar lower trim pad and welting. Rotate throttle quadrant aside, and install Throttle Stop/Kickdown Setting Gauge (JD-162). Tighten Allen screw, and gently return throttle quadrant against its stop.
  3. Move carpet away from kickdown switch. Cut and remove tie-wrap securing switch harness to side harness. Disconnect kickdown switch connector. Place a thin piece of paper over kickdown switch operating pad.
  4. Press throttle pedal by hand until resistance is felt (about 90 percent of full throttle). See Fig 2 . Adjust kickdown switch (up/down) until paper can just be released from between pedal and pad with minimal resistance. Release throttle pedal, and remove paper.
  5. Reconnect switch connector, and secure harness using NEW tie-wrap. Install carpet and trim pad. Remove throttle stop/kickdown setting gauge and throttle stop adjustment gauge. Return throttle quadrant to stop.
