Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor

The ECT sensor is located at rear of thermostat housing and consists of a Negative Thermal Coefficient (NTC) thermistor. The electrical resistance within the ECT sensor increases with decreasing coolant temperature.

PCM monitors the ECT sensor resistance value and triggers temperature enrichment circuits (when necessary) to extend the injector's on time during cold starting and warm-up.
