Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECTS)

The ECTS is located at rear of thermostat housing and consists of a Negative Thermal Coefficient (NTC) thermistor. The electrical resistance within the ECTS increases with decreasing coolant temperature.

ECM monitors the ECTS resistance value and triggers temperature enrichment circuits (when necessary) to extend the injector's on time during cold starting and warm-up.
