Front Pump
- Install square cut "O" ring around outer circumference of pump body and attach new gasket to oil pump cover, retaining gasket with petroleum jelly. Lubricate turbine shaft journals and pump oil seal rings.
- Using 2 alignment dowels, install pump assembly into case. Install pump attaching bolts with new seals (omit one bolt for end play check), and tighten bolts evenly. See Fig 1
.CAUTION: If turbine shaft cannot be rotated as pump is being pulled into place, forward or direct clutch housings have not been installed properly to index with all clutch plates. Correct this condition before pulling pump fully into place.
- Recheck front unit end play. See INPUT SHAFT END PLAY . If necessary, adjust end play by changing thrust washer located between pump cover and forward clutch housing. Install remaining pump attaching bolt. Apply a non-hardening sealer to outside of new front oil seal. Install seal into pump using a driver.
