Diagnostic Procedure

Check status of warning lights on instrument panel for brake system. If BRAKE warning light is illuminated, failure with brake system is not ABS-related. Repair mechanical/hydraulic part of brake system. If ANTI-LOCK warning light is illuminated, failure is ABS-related. See ACCESSING ABS CODES. If BRAKE and ANTI-LOCK warning lights are illuminated, brake system failure is both mechanical/hydraulic and ABS-related. Repair mechanical/hydraulic failure first, then repair ABS failure.
