Removal (XJS)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Raise and support vehicle. Remove crankshaft sensor (flywheel sensor) heat shield. Remove flywheel sensor. Rotate flywheel until No. 1 piston is TDC. Ensure crankshaft timing marks are aligned.
  2. Install flywheel sensor and heat shield. Lower vehicle. Disconnect front and rear coil connectors. Remove bolts from cruise control bellow support bracket. Disconnect wiring harness connector and vacuum hose from cruise control assembly.
  3. Lift cruise control assembly and position aside. Remove distributor cap. Ensure distributor rotor is aligned with TDC mark on distributor housing. See Figure. Remove distributor retaining bolts and distributor.
