Air Temperature Sensor (ATS) (XJS)

The ATS has little effect on the injector pulse width, and should be regarded as a trimming rather than a control device.

The ATS ensures fuel supplied is directly proportional to the weight of air drawn in by the engine. As the weight (density) of the air increases with a falling temperature, the amount of fuel supplied is also increased to maintain optimum fuel/air ratio.
