Downshift Cable
- Engine must be correctly tuned. Using Allen wrench, remove plug from transmission and connect pressure gauge to transmission with adapter. See Fig 1 .
- Feed gauge hose through passenger window, keeping hose clear of exhaust pipe. Block wheels and apply hand and foot brakes. Run engine to normal operating temperature.
- With transmission selector in "D" position, pressure gauge should read 60-75 psi (4.2-5.3 kg/cm2 ) at idle speed. Increase engine speed to 1200 RPM. Gauge should now read 75-115 psi (5.3-8.1 kg/cm2 ).
- If correct pressures are not obtained, turn engine off and place transmission in "N". Loosen lock nut on downshift cable, and turn adjustment nut on outer cable to alter pressure. See Figure .
- Increasing length of cable increases pressure. Decreasing length decreases pressure. When pressures are correct, tighten cable lock nut, install plug and road test vehicle.
