Stall Test

  1. With engine and transmission at normal operating temperature, tachometer installed, parking and service brakes applied, place transmission selector lever in "D". Press accelerator pedal to the floor and read maximum engine speed obtained.
CAUTION: To prevent damage to transmission by overheating, DO NOT  perform stall test for more than 10 seconds at a time.
  2. Stall speed should be 1950-2100 RPM. If stall speed is considerably less than specified, check for insufficient engine output or one-way clutch slippage in torque converter. If stall speed is higher then specified, clutch or band slippage is indicated.
