Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 GMC Envoy and 2009 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. Install the guide pin seals (1).
  2. NOTE: The guide pins are not interchangeable. Note the location of the guide pins.

  3. Apply a light coat of high temperature silicone brake lubricant to the brake caliper guide pins.
  4. Install the upper guide pin (1).

    Ensure the lip of the seal is fully seated in the groove of the brake caliper guide pin.

  5. Install the lower guide pin (2).

    Ensure the lip of the seal is fully seated in the groove of the brake caliper guide pin.

  7. Apply a light coat of high temperature silicone brake lubricant to the brake pad shims.
  8. Install the brake pad shims (1).

  10. Install the inner (1) and outer (2) brake pads.

    Note the location of the brake pad wear sensors for correct installation.

  12. Install the brake caliper (1) to the caliper bracket.

  14. Loosely install the brake caliper guide pin bolts.
  15. CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  16. Tighten the upper brake caliper guide pin bolt (1) to 42 N.m (31 lb ft).
  17. Tighten the lower brake caliper guide pin bolt (2) to 42 N.m (31 lb ft).
  18. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  19. Lower the vehicle.
