Transmission Assembly: Installation

Slowly raise transmission jack until front of the transmission is aligned with rear of the engine. Attach the transmission to the engine.
Tighten engine-transmission bolts as shown in the figure.

- Install exhaust pipe bracket to converter housing and exhaust pipe (HEC).

Align the flex plate-torque converter bolt boss with flex plate hole by turning the torque converter. Install flex plate-torque converter bolts (6 pieces) by turning the crankshaft.
1. Torque: 54 N.m (40 lb ft) (V6)
2. Torque: 29 N.m (22 lb ft) (HEC)
NOTE: Do not reuse the flex plate torque converter bolt.

Install transfer control lever on the transfer case (V6, 4X4).

Install under covers to the transmission and engine.

1. Torque: 8 N.m (69 lb ft) (V6 / HEC)
Install starter (V6).
1. Torque: 40 N.m (30 lb ft)
Install select cable by connecting inner cable to select lever and installing outer cable with bracket.

Connect transmission Oil cooler pipes to A/T.
1. Torque: 44 N.m (33 lb ft)
Install Oil cooler pipe clamp and bracket to the converter housing.

Tighten Oil cooler pipe clamp bolt at the engine mount side.
Install third crossmember.
1. Torque: 76 N.m (56 lb ft)
Install rear mount nuts.
1. Torque: 50 N.m (37 lb ft)

Install harness heat protector (V6).
1. Torque: 6 N.m (52 lb in)

Connect transmission harness connector and clip.
Connector: Adapter case, mode switch, main case, magnetic sensor, transfer switch (4x4), 2-4 actuator (4x4) and car speed sensor.
Connect fuel pipe bracket to transmission side.
NOTE: See "NOTE" of Removal steps.

Install fuel pipe heat protector and clip.

Install center exhaust pipe (V6, 4x4).
1. Torque: 43 N.m (32 lb ft)

Install front propeller shaft (4x4) and rear propeller shaft.
1. Torque: 63 N.m (46 lb ft)
Install transfer protector (4x4) and fairing plate (V6).
