Lights Test

Lights test determines operation of Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL), Up Shift Light, Low Fuel Light, Reduced Power Light and Cruise Control Light. To run lights test:

  1. Connect TECH 2 or equivalent scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located at lower left side of instrument panel, behind a small cover. Start engine, and go to next step.
  2. With engine idling, on scan tool select F3: MISCELLANEOUS TESTS. From application menu select F0: LIGHTS, and go to next step.
  3. To test suspect light, select appropriate Fx: key for light being tested, and then press ON key. Suspect light should illuminate.
  4. If light illuminates, testing is complete. If light does not illuminate, repair as necessary. For aid in diagnosing faulty light, see ENGINE PERFORMANCE in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL, or appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
