Idle Air Control System

Idle Air Control (IAC) system is conducted to test IAC for proper operation.

  1. Connect TECH 2 or equivalent scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Start engine, allow to idle, then go to next step.
  2. On scan tool select F3: MISCELLANEOUS TESTS. From application menu select F3: IAC SYSTEM, then go to next step.
  3. Following scan tool instructions perform IAC system test. Observing IAC data lists, press INCREASE or DECREASE soft key. Idle speed should follow commands.
  4. If data list changes with commands. IAC has been reset and testing is complete. If IAC does not perform as specified, repair IAC motor as necessary. See IDLE AIR CONTROL MOTOR in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article.
