Lamps Test

Lamps test determines operation of Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL), Up Shift Lamp, Low Fuel Lamp, Reduced Power Lamp and Cruise Control Lamp. To run lamps test:

  1. Connect TECH 2 or equivalent scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located at lower left side of instrument panel, behind a small cover. Start engine, and go to next step.
  2. With engine idling, on scan tool, select F3: MISCELLANEOUS TESTS. From application menu, select F0: LAMPS, and go to next step.
  3. To test suspect lamp, select appropriate Fx: key for lamp being tested, and then press ON key. Suspect lamp should illuminate.
  4. If lamp illuminates, testing is complete. If lamp does not illuminate, repair as necessary. For aid in diagnosing faulty lamp, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article, or appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
