Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Perform On-Board Diagnostic II OBD-II system check. See SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - INTRODUCTION article. Go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, read and record FAILURE RECORDS data. Operate vehicle within FAILURE RECORDS data as noted on scan tool. If scan tool displays DTC P1627 RAN AND PASSED, go to DIAGNOSTIC AIDS . If scan tool does not display DTC P1627 RAN AND PASSED, go to next step.
  3. Check all 5 volt reference circuits for open circuits, short to ground or to voltage. Repair as necessary. If no problem was found, go to next step.
  4. Replace and reprogram PCM using required equipment. See PROGRAMMING . Retest system.
