Disabling & Activating Air Bag System: Hombre

  1. Turn steering wheel to straight-ahead position. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position and remove key. Remove AIR BAG fuse (10-amp) from interior fuse block. Wait at least 5 minutes.
  2. Remove Left side sound insulator (if equipped). Remove knee bolster. Pull Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip out and disconnect the drivers air bag Yellow 2-way connector at base of steering column.
  3. Open the instrument panel compartment door, lift stop and allow door to fully open. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip out and disconnect the passengers air bag Yellow 2-way connector located behind the glove box
  4. To activate air bag system, reconnect the drivers and passengers Yellow 2-way connectors. Install the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clips. Close instrument panel compartment door. Install knee bolster and Left Side sound insulator (if equipped). Install AIR BAG fuse. Turn ignition on. Ensure AIR BAG warning light flashes 7 times, then turns off. Perform AIR BAG test if AIR BAG warning light does not operate as described, see 1999 Hombre SIR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK or 2000 Hombre SIR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
