Test A-3/Ta-3: Wheels Lock During Braking

  1. If ABS operates, go to next step. If ABS does not operate, go to step  6.
  2. If vehicle speed is less than 6 MPH when wheels lock, operation is normal. If vehicle speed is 6 MPH or greater when wheels lock, go to next step.
  3. Check wheel speed sensor output. See TEST C-1/C-2: FRONT SENSOR OUTPUT INSPECTION  or TEST TC-1: SENSOR OUTPUT INSPECTION  under COMPONENT TESTS. If wheel speed sensor output is okay, go to next step. If wheel speed sensor output is not okay, repair or replace sensor and/or wiring as necessary. After repairs, go to step  6.
  4. Check 4WD controller operation. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step  6. If operation is normal, go to next step.
  5. Check EHCU for proper grounding. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to next step. If EHCU is grounded properly, go to next step.
  6. Reconnect all components. Ensure all component are properly installed. Verify system operation. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
