DTC 65: Abnormal Wheel Speed Sensor Signal Input

  1. If using scan tool, go to next step. If not using scan tool, go to step  3.
  2. Connect scan tool. Select MANUAL TRIGGER in snap shot mode. With wheel speed data displayed, test drive vehicle at about 18 MPH on level road. If abnormal wheel speed data is displayed, replace wheel speed sensor in question. After repairs, go to step  8. If wheel speed data displayed is normal, go to next step.
  3. Check for play in wheel speed sensors and sensor rings. If play is present, repair components in question. After repairs, go to step  8. If no play is present, go to next step.
  4. Check for powdered iron sticking to wheel speed sensors or sensor rings. If a problem is found, replace wheel speed sensor and sensor ring in question. After repairs, go to step  8. If no problem is found, go to next step.
  5. Check for broken or deformed teeth on wheel speed sensor rings. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step  8. If no problem is found, go to next step.
  6. Check for loose wheel bearings. Adjust or repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step  8. If wheel bearings are okay, go to next step.
  7. Check wire harnesses between each wheel speed sensor and EHCU. Repair as necessary. If wire harnesses are okay, replace EHCU. After repairs, go to next step.
  8. Reconnect all components. Ensure all component are properly installed. Clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. Verify system operation. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
