DTC 64: Simultaneous Drop-Out Of Front Speed Sensor Signals

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect EHCU 16-pin harness connector. Measure resistance between EHCU 16-pin harness connector terminals No. 2 (Green wire) and No. 10 (Blue wire). If resistance is 2.0-2.8 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 2.0-2.8 k/ohms, go to step  3.
  2. Measure resistance between EHCU 16-pin harness connector terminals No. 3 (White wire) and No. 11 (Red wire). If resistance is 2.0-2.8 k/ohms, go to step  5. If resistance is not 2.0-2.8 k/ohms, go to step  4.
  3. Measure resistance of left front wheel speed sensor. If resistance is 2.0-2.8 k/ohms, repair harness between wheel speed sensor and EHCU. If resistance is not 2.0-2.8 k/ohms, replace wheel speed sensor. After repairs, go to step  8.
  4. Measure resistance of right front wheel speed sensor. If resistance is 2.0-2.8 k/ohms, repair harness between wheel speed sensor and EHCU. If resistance is not 2.0-2.8 k/ohms, replace wheel speed sensor. After repairs, go to step  8.
  5. Check for powdered iron sticking to sensor components. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to next step. If no problem is found, go to next step.
  6. Check for play in wheel speed sensor or sensor rotor. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to next step. If no problem is found, go to next step.
  7. Check wheel speed sensor output. See TEST C-1/C-2: FRONT SENSOR OUTPUT INSPECTION  or TEST TC-1: SENSOR OUTPUT INSPECTION  under COMPONENT TESTS. If wheel speed sensors check okay, check for faulty harness between wheel speed sensor and EHCU. Repair as necessary. If no problem is found, replace EHCU. After repairs, go to next step.
  8. Reconnect all components. Ensure all component are properly installed. Clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. Verify system operation. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
