Circuit Description
Knock Sensor (KS) is used to detect engine detonation (knock). If excessive knock is present, Vehicle Control Module (VCM) will retard timing until knock goes away. VCM contains a replaceable knock sensor module. KS module contains circuitry which allows VCM to diagnose KS and its circuitry. If KS is missing or faulty causing continuous knock condition, VCM will set DTC P0325.
Conditions required to set DTC are:
- DTC P0327 is not active.
- Conditions causing DTC exist for at least 0.5 second.
- System voltage is greater than 10 volts, but not greater than 17.1 volts.
- VCM detects KS or circuitry fault.
- Engine running at least 2 minutes.
