Diagnostic Aids

PCM is not monitoring an ABS fault signal. When PCM does not receive ABS signal, PCM will set DTC P1381. Check for an open circuit in wiring between PCM and ABS ECU.

1. Perform On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check. See BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES article. Read and record FREEZE FRAME and/or FAIL RECORDS data for each DTC set. Go to next step.
2. Turn ignition on, engine off. Review and record scan tool failure records data. Operate vehicle within failure records condition. Using scan tool, monitor DTC information for DTC P1381 and misfire DTCs. If scan tool shows DTC P1381 and misfire DTCs passed this ignition, clear DTC. If scan tool shows DTC P1381 and misfire DTCs failed this ignition, see appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES. If problem is still present, repeat this step. If repeating this step does not correct problem, go to next step.
3. Check for open circuit in communications lines between ABS ECU and PCM. Repair as necessary. If a short circuit is not present, replace PCM.
