Amigo & Rodeo (3.2L Engine), Trooper

  1. Disconnect generator connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between ground and generator connector terminal "L" (White/Blue wire; White/Green wire on VehiCROSS). Also measure voltage at generator connector terminal "IG" (Black/Yellow wire). If battery voltage is indicated, go to next step.

If battery voltage is not indicated, check for blown METER or ENGINE IG. fuse in dash fuse box. If fuses are okay, check for open in Black/Yellow wire between generator connector terminal "IG" and dash fuse box, White/Blue wire between generator connector terminal "L" and instrument panel, or Yellow wire between instrument panel and dash fuse box. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair if necessary.

  2. Reconnect generator connector and start engine. Ensure ALL accessories and equipment are off. Use DVOM and measure battery voltage while engine is idling. If reading is greater than 16 volts, replace generator. Connect ammeter between output terminal wire and output terminal of generator. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Turn on headlights and other accessories. Amperage must not drop below 15 amps and voltage must not drop below 13 volts. If either amperage or voltage drops below specifications, replace generator.
