Front Passenger Window Inoperative: Rodeo

  1. Remove passenger's power window and lock switch. DO NOT remove connector. Use DVOM to measure voltage between ground and power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 2 (Green/Red wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If battery voltage is indicated, go to next step. If battery voltage is not indicated, repair open in Green/Red wire between power window and lock switch and power window relay. After repairs, recheck system operation.
  2. Check for continuity between passenger's side power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 3 and ground (Black wire). If continuity is indicated, go to next step. If continuity is not indicated, repair poor connection at ground B-8 or open in Black wire. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  3. Disconnect passenger's power window and lock switch. Momentarily connect fused jumper between suspect rear power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 1 (Brown/Red wire). Connect jumper wire between rear power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 4 (Brown/White wire). If power window motor does not move to up position, check for open wires or poor connections at switch. If circuits are okay, replace passenger's power window motor. See POWER WINDOW MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If power window motor moves to up position, go to next step.
  4. Momentarily connect a fused jumper between passenger's power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 4 (Brown/White wire). Connect another jumper wire between rear power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 1 (Brown/Red wire). If power window motor does not move to down position, check for open wires or poor connections at switch. If circuits are okay, replace passenger's power window motor. See POWER WINDOW MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If power window motor moves to down position, replace passenger's power window and lock switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
