WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Honda Accord, 2006 Honda Accord, 2005 Honda Accord, 2004 Honda Accord, and 2003 Honda Accord. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
There are SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ) and precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ), before doing repairs or service.
- Disconnect the 14P connector from the control unit.
- Inspect the connector and socket terminals to make sure they are all making good contact.
- If the terminals are bent, loose, or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system.
- If the terminals look OK, go to step 3.
- With the 14P connector disconnected, do these input tests.
- If test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
- If all the input tests prove OK, the cruise control unit may by faulty. Substitute a known-good cruise control unit, and retest. If the system works properly, replace the cruise control unit.
CRUISE CONTROL UNIT INPUT TEST (2003-05 MODELS)
| Cavity | Wire | Test condition | Test: Desired result | Possible cause if result is not obtained |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | BRN/BLK | Connect battery power | Check the operation of the magnetic clutch: Clutch should click and output link should be locked. |
| 3 | BLK | Under all conditions | Check for continuity to ground: There should be continuity. |
| 4 | BLK/RED | Ignition switch ON (II) | Check for voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage. |
| 5 | WHT/BLK | Brake pedal pressed, then released | Check for voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage with the pedal pressed, and 0 V with the pedal released. |
| 6 | GRY/RED | Set/decel switch pressed | Check for voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage. When testing terminal No. 6, there should be no voltage on terminal No. 7. |
| 7 | LT GRN/BLK | Resume/accel switch pressed | Check for voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage. When testing terminal No. 7, there should be no voltage on terminal No. 6. | |
| 9 | BRN/YEL | Connect battery power to the BRN/YEL terminal and ground to the BRN/WHT terminal | Check the operation of the actuator motor: You should hear the motor. |
| 11 | BRN/WHT | |||
| 10 | BLU/YEL | Ignition switch ON (II) | Attach to ground: CRUISE CONTROL indicator in the gauge assembly should comes on. |
| 12 | BLU/WHT | Ignition switch ON (II) and cruise control main switch ON; raise the front of the vehicle, and rotate one wheel slowly while holding the other wheel
NOTE:
This input test must be done with the 14P connector reconnected.
Check for voltage between the BLU/WHT (+) and BLK (-) terminal: There should be 0---5 V or more repeatedly. |
| 13 | LT GRN | Cruise control main switch ON, then OFF | Check for continuity between No. 2 terminal and No. 13 terminal: There should be continuity with the cruise control main switch ON and no continuity with the cruise control main switch OFF. |
| 14 | M/T: LT BLU | Clutch pedal released | Check for continuity to ground: There should be continuity.
NOTE:
There should be no continuity when the clutch pedal is pressed.
| A/T: PNK | Shift lever in D, D3 | Check for continuity to ground: There should be continuity.
NOTE:
There should be no continuity when shift lever is in other positions.
| 2 | PNK | Reconnect the cruise control unit 14P connector, turn the ignition switch ON (II), and cruise control main switch ON | Check for voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage. |
| 8 | BLU/BLK | Reconnect the cruise control unit 14P connector, start the engine, press the cruise control main switch ON, and drive the vehicle at speeds over 25 mph (40 km/h) with the cruise control set | Check for voltage to ground: There should be about 1V |
